– now what to do?

What is fraud, theft and dishonesty?

Fraud, theft and dishonesty charges can arise out of a variety of situations and can be laid by both state and federal police.

Victoria Police define fraud as ‘using deceitful or intentionally dishonest behaviour to obtain an advantage or to avoid an obligation’. Fraud can also include omitting information and making false statements orally or in writing.

Laws have been introduced to include aggravated home invasion and aggravated carjacking. Most of these offences carry new mandatory sentencing provisions if found guilty.
